11 people have perished in a horrific bus crash which occurred yesterday, April 7.
The factory bus was ferrying 43 passengers who were all contract workers of the MAS Cargo Complex, from Nilai to their workplace at Sepang when the accident happened.
“The cause of the incident is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” said KLIA district police chief Assistant Commissioner Zulkifli Adamshah, according to NST.
The Zone Five (South Selangor) Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call requesting immediate assistance on the incident at 11.16pm.
The bus had to be cut open on several sections to reach the trapped victims. Zulkifli added that the extraction operation took about an hour to be completed. He also said that the personnel from the Fire and Rescue Department, the Civil Defence Force, the Health Department and auxiliary police from the MAS Cargo Complex participated in unison in the emergency response.
The injured passengers totalling 34 people have been sent to hospitals in Serdang, Putrajaya, Banting and Kajang to receive treatment and care.
This incident is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
